An Introduction to Nuclear Energy Politics

The politics of nuclear new build and decommissioning are as important as funding and resourcing.  For this reason the YGN is organising the first ever Introduction to Nuclear Politics in London in 2012.

An Introduction to Nuclear Defence

Date:

6th and 7th September 2012

Location:

Beardmore Hotel Glasgow and HM Naval Base Clyde

Description:

The YGN Presents: An Introduction to Nuclear Defence aims to give delegates an introduction to the UK’s nuclear defence industry, highlighting the steps taken by our Government to protect crown and country.  This year the 2 day seminar will include tours of HM Naval base Clyde.  Presentations on nuclear defence topics will be made from leading industry figures. Due to the nature of this event it is only open to UK nationals with a valid UK Passport.

An Introduction to Nuclear Safety and Regulation

Description:

The aim of this event is to provide an opportunity to learn about the 5 barriers to safety set out by WANO which include; Quality, Control, Protection, Emergency Planning and Accident Management.  This seminar includes talks from leading industry figures, several activity based workshop exercises and a tour to see first-hand how these barriers of safety are put into practise.

An Introduction to Decommissioning and Waste Management

11th to 13th June 2012

West Cumbria Area

Description:

This year’s event (formerly the Rough Guide to the Nuclear Industry) has expanded to include visits to Sellafield Ltd, LLWR and the Dalton Cumbrian Facility; a brand new state of the art research facility for the Dalton Nuclear Institute, academia and industry. This is in addition to the usual mixture of lectures giving a broad overview of decommissioning & waste management and, of course, the evening social events. This event is an excellent introduction to the subject for anyone with an interest in the nuclear industry.

YGN & NW Branch Networking Event/Exhibition

Description:

Following the great success of the 2011 event, we are holding it again in 2012. This is a free post-work event, design to allow you to get to know your colleagues throughout the industry, find out more about some of the organisations from the industry, and generally build and develop your network. The event starts at 4pm until 6pm with refreshments provided.

YGN & NW Branch Question Time

Other Promoted Events

Taking place from 23rd-25th April in Vienna, Nuclear New Builds Summit 2012 aims to explore the complex range of factors that can hinder the development of nuclear new build in Europe, as well as perspectives from America, Asia and Africa.

The event sessions will examine the difficulties in acquiring project finance, opportunities in nuclear investment, liaising effectively with nuclear politics, nuclear regulations, as well as technical considerations such as the siting of new build, waste management strategies, secure fuel supplies and reactor installation.
